This squad is a technically equipped section of criminal investigation department having trained police personnel for bomb and explosive detection and deactivation the same. This section is under direct supervision of a deputy superintendent of police and headed by an inspector of police.

This section performs the following tasks :

• This unit attends all bomb threat calls.

• This section performs anti sabotage checking during vvip and vip visit.

• During festivals this section checks the vital installations of the city.

• This unit performs regular and random checking of

- Kolkata Airports

- Howrah and Sealdah Railway Station

- Other vital government establishments

- Important industrial installations.
- Different crowded places.

This unit also aids in disposal of explosives and bombs detected by different police stations and attends and organise specialised training for detection and disposal of bombs and explosives.
