Reports were being received that Rhino Horn is being poached by killing the Rhino in the Jaldapara National Park & Forest of Alipurduar district areas. SOG, North Bengal could recover one AK-47 Rifle, 46 rounds ammunition and 1 Rhino Horn and arrested total of 8 (eight) criminals who were actively involved in the poaching of the Wild Life animals. Some of the Rava Tribe criminals who were active in this kind of crime and kidnapping and extortion of money have also been arrested by SOG, North Bengal. There was an information that an endangered species of Indian soft shell turtle found in the Coastal areas of Odisha and fresh water of Uttar Pradesh are being smuggled into West Bengal for local consumption as well as for export to Thailand, China etc. SOG of CID, West Bengal seized 803 turtle on 28.12.2016 and arrested 02 (two) persons. The entire racket is being busted in coordination with UP STF and more such seizure and arrest will follow. Acting on a tip, SOG,CID, West Bengal held raid at Gaighata PS area under North 24 Parganas district on 07.01.2017 and arrested two persons from Gaighata PS area namely Ranjit Debnath and Raju Ghosh. The police team also seized 1135 pcs turtles & one TATA “Chota Hati” mini truck vide Registration No WB25F5524 and the turtles were for exportation to abroad. Acting on a tip, SOG,CID, West Bengal held raid at Seoraphuli GRPS area under Howrah GRP district on 14.01.2017 and arrested seven persons namely Deepak Kumar, Sanju Kumar,Babla Ganguly, Sk Mafijul, Bishal Kumar, Suraj Kumar & Gopal Das from the same GRPS area. The police team also seized 505 pcs Indiian Soft Shell Turtle and the turtles were kept for exportation to abroad in a fancy price lakhs or more. Acting on a tip, SOG,CID, WB jointly with ATS,CID,WB held raid at Bandel GRPS area under Howrah GRP district on 22.02.2017 and arrested two persons namely Tutia and Rajen. The police team also seized 174 pcs Indiian Soft Shell Turtle and the turtles were kept for exportation.
