Child trafficking racket busted

A team of CID, West Bengal officers raided Sohan Nursing Home in Baduria PS area in North 24 Parganas district and recovered 3 newborn babies who were going to be trafficked by way of illegal adoption racket. In continuation of said recovery another raid was conducted at Purbasa under Thakurpukur PS area, Dist. South 24 Parganas wherefrom 10 more children were recovered. In this case a total No. of 21 persons were arrested out of whom 3 were medical doctors. One Dr. Dilip Ghosh was associated with BJP. A good amount of money and foreign currencies were also seized in this case. The investigation is going on. On 25/01/2017 a special team of CID, West Bengal along with Kotwali PS police officials of Jalpaiguri District arrested two persons namely Chandana Chakraborty w/o Jiban Chakraborty of Keranipara, PS Kotwali, Jalpaiguri along with one Sonali Mondal d/o Jiban Mondal of Debinagarpara, PS Moynaguri, Jalpaiguri. Chandan Chakraborty who run a Specialized Adoption Agency , namely North Bengal People Development Centre (NBDPC) involved in selling babies against a large amount of money and all cases are not registered in their Register. The Police team seized a Maruti Artiga Car, Samsung J 7 Phone etc and also seized several important documents. Sometimes these baby traffickers directly sell the babies to cutomers after booking over mobile phone, sometimes they use to send the babies to aboriad through agents and pimps. The same NGO also runs a short stay home for women in crisis and snatches babies of mothers who are discharged from the short stay homes on their way back to residence.
