The Narcotic Cell of CID WB has conducted several raids in various parts of the State and have given excellent performance in the year 2016. So far 2.270 Kgs heroine, 64 Kgs Ganja, 16,269 Kgs Poppy straw, 1,37,000 bottles of cough linctus containing codeine phosphate, Rs.3,81,000/- as sale proceed money, conveyances etc have done by Narcotic Cell of CID, WB. Total 07 (seven) cases have been initiated by CID WB. Seventeen (17) persons including drug peddlers, sellers and distributors have also been arrested by them. Among the important kingpins Md Murad (29) s/o Abdul Latif is a veteral criminal cum seller of NDPS was arrested in Bhaktinagar PS Case No.1574/16, Sunil Kumar Yadav (23) s/o Deodhari Yeadav and Md. Sohail Khan (30) s/o Lt. Mormin Khan in connection with Dankuni PS Case No. 453/16 were arrested. The poppy cultivation in the State of West Bengal was drawing the attention of Narcotic Control Bureau and several other Agencies and was also hitting the Media Headlines in the past. CID, WB has launched a relentless attack on the cultivation of poppy and Ganja along with SPs of Malda, Coochbehar, Birbhum, Burdwan in their respective districts. We have also used Drone, provided by Kolkata Police, and got a huge success in the infested areas. It is expected that opium cultivation would be drastically reduced and the effort made by West Bengal Police under your able guidance would become a case study for many Organisations.
